4TLOR Review ~ by Lou

This was a great duet.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Addison and Caine and how things developed over the 2 books.

Book one is based approximately 7 years ago and details Addison’s past, how and when she meets Caine and the situation they are in. Addison has been looking after her younger brother and sister since their Mum ran off and left them all. Addison is practically raising them as her own and doing an amazing job protecting them and providing whatever she can for them. When she finally gets a bit of a break and an actual paying job at a local diner things start to look more positive.

Whilst working she meets Caine who is a local cop who starts spending more and more time in the diner. But with Addison having secrets and hiding the true circumstances surrounding her the the kids living arrangements, she doesn’t want anyone to find out for fear of them being taken away from her and going into the system.

With a stalker as well, Addison’s life is certainly complex and nothing comes easy. When her stalker David becomes more of a threat to everything Addison is surviving for, she has some big decisions to make.

The way book 1 ended I am glad I was able to go straight into reading book 2.

Going into book 2, this takes place 7 years later. A lots has happened in the last 7 years, but we get to see the continuation of Addison and Caine’s story.

I found book 2 to drag a little, but by the end when everything came to a head I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I absolutely love Caine as a character; his alpha protectiveness towards Addison and of course Kylie and Tanner as well is superb. With other brilliant secondary characters, including Caine’s brothers, Alec and all of the other guys, there were some moments of real humour and brilliant banter!! Very funny at times!

A couple of parts I found to be a little unlikely in reality, but this didn’t take away from the story or the enjoyment. There were some real twists and plenty of action throughout!

Violet Duke is a great author – the writing flowed very well! A very enjoyable duet which is so romantic and beautiful at times. ❤️
