Title: Lucas – A Preston Brothers Novel
Author: Jay McLean
Release Day: November 1, 2016
In a sprint, every millisecond counts.
When you’re waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons.
High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don’t kill each other.
His saving grace? Lois “Laney” Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven.
A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage.
It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love.
Eight life-changing seconds.
It’s also the exact length of time it took to lose her.

“Love Hard, Love Fierce, but Love Right.’
Should be something we all live be, Jay has a way with words that leaves you simply wanting more and unable to put a book down, I devoured this.
Words simply flowing from from the page creating a whirlwind of emotions that surround you as you read the story. The emotional intensity that Jay is able to portray in these pages is simply beautiful and amazing as your heart is simply warmed, shattered, mended, broken and then healed.
Lucas and Lois (Laney) is a tale of self discovering and realisation, understanding and miscommunication. Falling in Love. Loyalty and family, Lucas is the oldest Preston boy and he and Laney are the same age and develop an amazing friendship.
Their relationship is tested and we see how it has grown over the years as the story flows beautifully between the past and the present in dual POVs. Complications and danger, mixed with angst and emotions make this a truly perfect mix. Add on the rest of the Preston boys, Cam and Lucy and we are all set for a great series !!
Jay is one of those authors I will not hesitate to one click and I highly recommend this book x

Yet again, Jay McLean has delivered an absolutely brilliant rollercoaster of a book, packed full of so many different emotions throughout you can’t help but keep turning those pages. I went through so many emotions and feelings whilst reading this book.
I’m going to say it, I didn’t like Lucas much to start with. And honestly, started off really liking Cooper (although that did change pretty quickly once you got to know him!!!!). Throughout the book he made me really cross, but I think that was also the beauty of it. Some of the decisions he made were rather questionable and it made me angry.
Laney was a great character and I really liked her. At times she came across a little weak and naïve, but she is extremely loyal to Lucas and the rest of the Preston Family. I loved her relationship with all the brothers and how much you could see the love and respect they all had for one another.
Lucas and Laney’s friendship throughout this book was epic. You just really hope they can move past all of their issues, pasts, sadness and devastation in their lives. So much happens in this book is brilliant. It’s hugely fast paced with a lot of excitement and action throughout. Some extremely funny moments with the rest of the Preston family, and also some immensely serious and difficult times too. A wonderful friends to lovers story (but with a little More Than that…), that will leave you experiencing ALL the emotions and more!
It was heartbreaking, breathtaking, and in a way, it was kind of beautiful.
Lucas Preston was beautiful.
I love Jay McLean’s books and she will always be an immediate one-click author for me! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the Preston Brothers bring!
