He told me to ‘settle, girl.’
He asked if ‘something was wrong with me?’
He said I was an ‘easy target.’
That was within minutes when I first met Caden Banks.
I labeled him an *sshole, but he was more than that. Arrogant. Smug. Alpha.
He was also to-die-for gorgeous, and my stepbrother’s fraternity brother.
Okay, yes I was a little naive, a tad bit socially awkward, and the smallest amount of stalker-ish, but if Caden Banks thought he could tell me what to do, he had another thing coming.
I came to college with daydreams about being with my stepbrother, but what if I fell for the anti-stepbrother instead?
This is a standalone

Tijan is the QUEEN of college based romance books, but they always have a twist! Anti-Stepbrother is no exception and I was totally immersed in the pages and the story from beginning to end. Right from the very start of this book you could see yourself in the story alongside all of these characters; Tijan manages to make you feel their emotions and feelings, and take you along for the rollercoaster of a ride right in the thick of it beside Summer, Caden and her step-brother Kevin! This book has it ALL!!
Summer has started college, she’s a freshman student at the same place as her Step-brother is. They are not blood related, just her Dad married his Mum. They don’t really know each other that well, but have had a few chats and flirtatious moments over the past year or so, plus one night together! Summer has feelings for Kevin, wonders if there could be more and is convinced she is in love with him and is thinking she may use this year to get him to fall in love with her too. Kevin though is a complete idiot, but the hot guy all the girls fall for, a total man-whore, who jumps from girlfriend to girlfriend, pretty much every six months exactly!
It doesn’t take long for Summer to see Kevin for who he really is, stemming from walking into him in bed with someone else’s girl! That night she also runs into Caden ‘The Asshole’ Banks, one of her step-brothers frat brothers, and over time these two strike up an unlikely friendship. Things start off badly between the two of them (Hence ‘The Asshole’ reference), but soon Caden is helping Summer out when she is in needs and before long there is a lot more going on than meets the eye! I absolutely LOVED Caden, he is so hot, hugely popular, swoony, sexy, alpha, arrogant, gorgeous, but also very kind-hearted! He is your perfect alpha-male character and I loved everything about him as you will when you read all about him!
Summers character was also great – yes there were elements to her that I found a little annoying, Her naivety towards her step-brother for one, but actually Tijan has managed to develop a character with this naivety, but also managed to develop her into a stronger more mature girl by the end of it. She is a brilliant person, very kind hearted, quirky and very funny at times! And she has some of her own struggles throughout this book which has the potential to really impact her and Caden’s friendship, and also their potential relationship.
I loved the friendship that Summer and Caden develop – I love how their friendship is so strong first, before ‘feelings’ come into play. And their chemistry was HOT! There are some brilliant ‘secrets’ that get revealed along the way, bringing so much more to the story than just an average step-brother college romance. This is so not average at all – this is all about the ANTI-STEPBROTHER!
Overall this book is a superb mix of angst, drama and OH SO MANY FEELS!!! The storyline that runs alongside with Cadens family is heart-warming and touching at times. I absolutely loved it from start to finish and as usual, Tijan simply does not disappoint.

Once you open this book you will find it hard to put down, it will swallow you whole and won’t spit you out until the end. Or at least that’s what it did to me, I was fully engaged and fully immersed as the story unfolded around me.
Tijan has a way with college romances, that make you feel as if you could slit right in amongst the action and be friends with the characters. They feel real and the stories that are told aren’t far fetched they could happen meaning they are believable and relatable, making what you are reading full of the highs and lows needed in any good book.
This book is no exception the character development is on point. Do not be fooled by the title, do not be out of if you have a thing against step brother romance this is not one. It has a step brother in it that’s it !! Summer follows him to college, but what happens there is where the story begins.
This is about Caden and Summer and their friendship and the way it develops, how the help each discover who they are and who they want to be. It’s a Dual POV and I love this. Getting to feel from Caden and Summer.
It’s about finding your way, finding friendships, learning who you are, what you want, becoming independent. Learning to live. Caring for others and love. And it’s beautiful.
The supporting cast are spot on. Even down to the bitchy jealous frat girls. And there’s characters I’d like to see get there on books.
But for now this book had it all, the unexpected, the perfect, the laughs, the heat.
